#TRENDING 10/02/20: President Trump and Melania Have Contracted COVID-19

President Trump and Melania Have Contracted COVID-19

Late last night, PRESIDENT TRUMP announced that he and MELANIA had tested positive for COVID-19.

Trump is playing it cool for now. He Tweeted, quote, "[Melania] and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!"

Earlier in the day, Trump confirmed that HOPE HICKS, one of his top aides, had tested positive. As far as we know, she was the first person within Trump's inner circle to contract it . . . and it could've spread to others as well.

Hicks traveled on Air Force One with Trump multiple times in recent days . . . including to the debate in Cleveland on Tuesday, and to his rally in Minnesota on Wednesday.

Hicks was seen boarding a plane with several other aides on Wednesday . . . including Jared KushnerNone of themwere wearing masks, although it's POSSIBLE that they later wore them in private.

As for Trump himself, we don't know how he handles himself behind closed doors, but publicly, he's rarely seen wearing a mask.

At the debate on Tuesday, Trump said that he's not anti-mask, and will wear one "when needed." But he also mockedJOE BIDEN for wearing a mask, quote, "every time you see him." (Here's video.)

It's unclear if Biden or moderator Chris Wallace were exposed at that debate.

In any event, Trump was on "Hannity" last night, before he got the test results back. And he didn't seem concerned about Hicks' diagnosis. He said, quote, "We'll see what happens, who knows?"

For the record, Trump is 74 . . . but fortunately his doctor saidthat he was "unequivocally . . . the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency." And there's no indication that he's even symptomatic at this point.

Last night, the Trumps' doctor said, quote, "[They're] both well at this time."

It shouldn't be TOO big of a deal having Trump shut-away in the White House . . . but it's worth pointing out that the second debate was scheduled for October 15th, which is less than two weeks away, and the election is just one month away.

Covid cases can vary across the board . . . but people with mild symptoms can recover within 10 days to two weeks. Medium cases can take around a month, and the serious cases can linger much longer.
